MISSIONARY TRAINING CENTER, PROVO, UTAH

Melissa, Paula and Tom

The Heaths and the Missionary Training Center

Paula Heath
I met Paula and Tom Heath and their family when we lived in Montreal, 1990-1994. We became fast friends and though we eventually moved out west to Alberta, and they moved back to Salt Lake City, we have kept in touch and remained good friends. Paula and Tom picked me up from the airport when I landed in Salt Lake City on Sunday, May 26. We spend some time catching up and later took me to see their their cabin in Brighton Canyon. Paula and Tom are great people and it was so good to see them after so many years apart.
The famous, "point to your mission" picture.
My Italian tutor, Andrew Protor, who I Skypd with for three months before leaving. We met at the MTC cafeteria.

Staying at the MTC was probably one of the best experiences of my life. I was surrounded by over 2000 young and senior missionaries, all sharing the same goal and purpose, wanting to serve the Lord. We were taught by returned missionaries who were knowledgeable and had such a great spirit about them. For 11 days we trained from 8:00 to 4:00 Monday - Friday. In the evenings I would either go for a run past the temple and down around BYU, or go work out in the gym. Funny enough I was always the only girl in there. On the weekends we were free to do whatever we wanted. The weather was hot and dry, I loved it. Good climate for my hair. Elder Holland of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles came and addressed us one evening, that was a highlight for sure. I hung around with some very special senior couples and sisters going to places like, Australia, Africa, Madagascar and Korea. The time went too quickly and it was time to pack for Rome.
